In the summer of 1967, Glentoran FC, a small club in Belfast, Northern Ireland, sent most of its squad to Detroit, where they were rechristened the “Detroit Cougars.” They played one season in the United Soccer Association, which was made up of 12 clubs across America, each stocked by a European club, e.g., Cleveland Stokers (Stoke City), New York Skyliners (C.A. Cerro), Chicago Mustangs (Cagliari).
This documentary retells the story of Glentoran’s summer in the Motor City.
