Just in time for the 40th anniversary of Victory on July 31 comes a new film that treads a similar path.
The Match, directed by Dominik Sedlar and Jakov Sedlar, retells the story of a 1944 game played between Hungarian prisoners and a team made up of their Nazi occupiers. The match was played on Adolf Hitler’s birthday.
The film stars Armand Asante, Franco Nero, Filip Tallhamn and Casper Phillipson. And like Victory before it, The Match features several IRL players, including Mark Viduka, Mateo Kovacic, Dejan Lovren, and Tomislav Bliznac.
