The Dream Coach tells the story of Italian coach Sergio Vatta, who led Torino’s famed youth program in the late 80s and early 90s. During his time there, the Torino youth teams won multiple trophies and regularly drew more than 5,000 spectators to games.
A Legendary Figure:
Vatta, who died in 2020, was credited with innovated ways of developing talent that laid the foundation for Italian youth development for decades.
He helped develop more than 60 Serie A players, including such stars as Dino Baggio, Christian Vieri, Benito Carbone, and more. He also coached the Italian U-21 team, which featured the likes of Gianluigi Buffon and Francesco Totti.
His methods and philosophies led to his nickname, “il Mago” — the Magician.
A Festival Favorite: The Dream Coach has screened at K+S New York 2014, the Overtime Film Festival, the Movies & TV Film Festival, and “Kitcon: Speaker Series” in Los Angeles.
