From inception, the goal of Kicking + Screening has been to bring great soccer films to soccer fans in North America – and turn film fans into great soccer fans. Today, we kick things up a notch (or two) with the formation of the Kicking + Screening Media Group, a new distribution company that will bring great soccer films to more audiences than ever before.
The K+S Media Group will showcase narrative, documentary, and short films on a new dedicated streaming channel and on VOD platforms such as iTunes, Amazon Video, and more. Films will also be available for theatrical viewings, festival screenings, and special events.
“After nearly 10 years of screening the world's best soccer films, we are finally achieving another goal: sharing these stories year round and with larger audiences,” K+S MG’s Rachel Markus said. “We're excited and deeply committed to finding fans for the many soccer filmmakers who capture the passion of this game so well. And really, what's better than soccer films, soccer films and more soccer films?”
It All Kicks Off with Celtic Soul, January 30
The K+S Media Group's debut film is Celtic Soul, which screened at the 2017 K+S Soccer Film Festival in New York. Starring comedian Jay Baruchel and soccer journalist Eoin O’Callaghan, Celtic Soul follows the two friends on a quest to see Scottish club Celtic FC in Glasgow. Hilarious and poignant, it’s a story that spans 200 years of colorful history as the duo visit Jay’s ancestral home of Westport, Ireland, and then continue on to Glasgow, where they finally get to see Celtic FC play at their famed stadium, Celtic Park.
Celtic Soul, directed by Michael McNamara and produced by Markham Street Films, will be available in the United States starting on Tuesday, January 30. Fans can watch the film on the following platforms: iTunes, Amazon Video, Vudu, GooglePlay, Sony Playstation, Comcast, Spectrum, Cox, Verizon, Frontier, Brighthouse, Dish, and DIRECTV.
PRE-ORDER CELTIC SOUL ON ITUNES!
“Markham Street Films is delighted that our film Celtic Soul will be part of the launch of the Kicking + Screening Media Group,” Markham Street Films Aaron Hancox and Judy Holm said. “Their experience and expertise are just what we were looking for to bring Celtic Soul to US audiences.”
“Celtic Soul is the perfect film to start with,” K+S Media Group’s Markus said. “You don't have to love Celtic or even soccer to appreciate the friendship, the journey, and the humbling nature of making it to one of the game’s hallowed grounds.”
Soon, K+S MG will make additional films available via the new K+S Media Group streaming channel, including festival favorites Anderson Monarchs and Argentina Fútbol Club.
